Direct Pay Online Partner with VISA to Launch the 10×10 Program

The DPO Group, the leading payments service provider in Africa in partnership with VISA are launching an e-commerce program dubbed 10×10 which will be held at the Strathmore University to provide students in the Faculty of Information Technology a series of workshops which will equip participants with practical business management skills and provide them with an understanding of the financial and technical aspects of building and running an e-commerce website.

The program will be launched for student developers at the institution, with plans to expand to other institutions and developer hubs in the future. There will be free bi-weekly workshops for small groups (up to 15 select participants) led by expert trainers and guides from Direct Pay Online.

The workshops is designed to provide the students with the skills to build an e-shop and connect it to the online payments solution, for successful e-commerce environments. The DPO Group and Visa will provide support and a rewards program for the developers where they will share 10% from all payments transactions from a website built by the developers and connected to the DPO payments solution for the first ten months.

Dr. Joseph Orero, Dean, Faculty of Information Technology, and Strathmore University said,  “We are delighted to partner with DPO Group, with this initiative, we will enhance the skills-set of our students for the much needed for e-commerce in Africa, and increase the number of entrepreneurs and would be entrepreneurs to grow businesses around new solutions.”

For young developers, the 10×10 program is an invaluable opportunity. Using knowledge gained through years of experience, the experts at Direct Pay Online are able to provide in-depth information and thorough skills training in the field of online payments. This free workshop aims to equip new developers with the tools to succeed as entrepreneurs in the competitive world of e-commerce.

“The DPO Group sees effective, high level e-commerce education as a key to the economic vitality in Africa.  Through access to education, our knowledge and support, we will enable vital skills development, ” said Eran Feinstein, the DPO Group CEO.

The program will also give developers a chance to become familiar with Direct Pay Online’s comprehensive payment solution, the technology behind it, and the tools that accompany it. It is this payment solution that enables merchants to accept a wide variety of secure and easy online payment methods.

Delaine Patrick, Visa’s Head of Merchant Sales and Solutions, Sub Sahara Africa, said, “We think this partnership with Direct Pay Online Group and Strathmore University is an ideal one that brings our collaborative approach to life through the innovative educational workshops with the aim of encouraging e-commerce in Africa.”
