Meet the 10 Tanzanian startups competing at Seedstars event
Seedstars World is returning to Tanzania for the third time with the support of the Swiss Embassy in Tanzania, COSTECH, the Human Development Innovation Fund (HDIF) and local ambassador Buni Hub.
The pitch event will take place on July 20, with the winner offered the opportunity to alongside entrepreneurs from more than 65 countries to pitch at the grand final in Switzerland for the chance to win up to US$500,000.
The 10 startups include music platform Afropremiere, sanitary napkin vending machine developer Be A Lady, on-demand laundry service Emakatt, agri-tech startup Flow Farm and e-book distribution service HadithiApp.
Mobile insurance company Nefrids Africa, school management system ScholarDream, scholarship finder SOMAAPPS, mobile learning startup tanzDevs and on-demand space rental platform Worknasi complete the list.
“We are impressed by what we have seen on the continent so far and cannot wait to add start-ups from Tanzania on our map,” said Claudia Makadristo, regional manager at Seedstars World.
Last year, Tanzanian health micro-insurance startup Jamiii was one of three African startups to make the final 12 of the global competition and pitched head-to-head against the other finalists for the equity prize at the Seedstars Summit.
