Inaugural SingularityU Global Impact Challenge set for West Africa

The Global Impact Challenge (GIC) is an annual competitions held in partnership with sponsor organizations worldwide and organized by geography and theme. These challenges are an open call to entrepreneurs, leaders, scientists, and engineers with the most innovative ideas for moonshot innovations and startups that can positively impact a billion people in 10 years to solve world’s greatest global challenges– energy, environment, food, shelter, space, water, disaster resilience, governance, health, learning, prosperity and security– by using exponential technology.

This year Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST) and Singularity University (SU) have partnered together for the inaugural event for West African Countries (Ghana, Nigeria) whereby all residents and citizens are eligible for the challenge which addresses climate change as well as other breathtaking innovations from other areas will also be considered. Winners will be announced on April 24, 2017 and will participate in the Global Solutions Program (GSP) at Singularity University for free. The program runs from June 17 to August 17, 2017 at the SU campus in Silicon Valley at NASA Research Park.

After completing the program, the winner is expected back in their country to develop their innovative project with the support of an alumni network and mentors around West Africa.

Other participants, especially the unsuccessful finalists, will also benefit from the program. They’ll get access to mentors and coaches to assist them in the startup phase of their projects.

Interested  entrepreneurs and innovators for the program should apply by April 3, 2017. All semi-finalists and finalists will participate in an Innovation workshop & pitch event in Lagos, Nigeria after which the winner will be announced.
