AfriLabs Partners with Sahara Sparks, Tanzania for 2018 Annual Gathering.

2017 has been a great year for Afrilabs: the largest pan-African network of over 80 technology and innovation hubs across 27 countries. 2018 has already started and Afrilab’s Annual Gathering is in Partnership with Sahara Sparks, the company
behind East Africa’s largest innovation and technology entrepreneurship event, Sahara Sparks from the 11th – 13th of October 2018 in Mlimani City, Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania and will be themed ‘ Innovation in the Data Age ’.

The AfriLabs Annual Gathering has been held in different regions across Africa; from Ghana in 2016 to Egypt in 2017 and now Tanzania in 2018. In attendance will be over 80 technology and innovation hubs and over 500 key stakeholders that include entrepreneurs, corporate organizations, government and developmental agencies.

The AfriLabs Annual Gathering and Sahara Sparks will be coming together as a joint event to create opportunities for the members of the AfriLabs network and its stakeholders to meet and engage with the Tanzanian tech and entrepreneurial ecosystem to exchange knowledge, network, build collaborative relationships and share resources about the opportunities that the data revolution and innovation in Africa presents for social and economic development.

The 3-day gathering will feature panel discussions, an investor pitch, multiple parallel workshops and a local ecosystem tour. The topics will be centred around data-driven innovation, the digital economy, Internet of Things, innovation ecosystems and trending technologies.

‘Every year the AfriLabs Annual Gathering engages a different regional ecosystem and we are very excited about it being held in East Africa in 2018. We are also looking forward to working with Sahara Ventures to create an experience for all the stakeholders attending. We want this year’s gathering to be the catalyst for disruptive partnerships and collaborations that will impact different communities across Africa by creating jobs and boosting the African economy’ – Anna Ekeledo, Executive Director, AfriLabs.
Innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship are key if Africa is to realize her full potential.

African countries need to work together to build a stable, efficient and promising ecosystem for innovators, tech enthusiasts, and startups growth. We are excited to work with AfriLabs to contribute to this noble cause. – Jumanne Mtambalike, CEO, Sahara Ventures.
