World Economic Forum hunts for Africa’s top female tech innovators

The World Economic Forum’s search for Africa’s top five female tech innovators has entered it final lap with just three weeks to go before the application process closes. The selected innovators will be invited to take part in the forum’s annual African meeting to be held in Durban in May.

The search is open to female entrepreneurs whose business, which must be less than three years old, uses innovative technology or business models’

The gathering will convene regional and global leaders from business, the government and civil society to explore solutions to create economic opportunities for all on the continent that will see a funding of around US$12million help create and sustain around 512 businesses within Africa.

We want Africa’s top female tech entrepreneurs to join us so we can celebrate them as role models and so they can help governments and policymakers create conditions for others to flourish.”

The 2017 World Economic Forum on Africa, from May 3-5, will be held under the theme “Achieving Inclusive Growth“.

The meeting – which will convene regional and global leaders from business, government and civil society – will explore solutions to create economic opportunities for all. It will provide insight from leading experts on how Africa will be affected by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, particularly in terms of safeguarding the region’s economies from negative disruption and exploiting opportunities for development.

The closing date for submission of entries for Africa’s top female innovators is Monday April 17.
