“WEKEBERE” Innovation set for Mobile World Congress 2017.

When you see young African innovators creating or developing mobile systems or devices that are meant to help a community in one way or another you can only be proud of this developing culture poised around the mobile Eco-system that is on a very rapid and steady rise.

Young IT Ugandan software engineer who has received various accolades in Uganda for his amazing innovation, Stephen Tashobya who is also the maker of diagnostic delivery device named ” WEKEBERE” that enables pregnant women to monitor the development of their unborn babies is saving millions of lives across the world especially in rural areas especially where maternal and infant mortality is alarming.

On Thursday morning he received an air ticket and accommodation package sponsored by Uganda Communications Commission ahead of the Mobile World Congress slated to take place in Barcelona, Spain. Eng. Godfrey Mutabaazi, the UCC Executive Director congratulated the innovator, urging other youths to draw an example from him.

As we all know the GSMA Mobile World Congress, which is usually held between 27 February – 2 March in Barcelona,  is the world’s largest gathering for the mobile industry where mobile operators and companies  in the broader mobile Eco-system come together to showcase the outstanding new innovations around the globe under the following initiatives across several key areas including Spectrum, Connected Living, Personal Data and Digital Commerce.

In the past, the event hosted a strong line-up keynote speakers including Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg.

This year’s edition will feature a range of internationally-acclaimed speakers and industry leaders such as GSMA Chairman, Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, Sunil Bharti Mittal and Netflix Founder and CEO, Reed Hastings.
