Google Is To Do A Progressive Web Apps Roadshow To Kenya, Nigeria And SA This Month

Google is organising a series of events that’ll discuss Progressive Web Applications in three African countries this month . They’re calling it the “Progressive Web Apps Roadshow” and it’s happening in Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa.

Y’all remember PWAs from Devcenter’s chat last week, yeah? Wikipedia says they can be seen as an evolving hybrid of regular web pages (or websites) and a mobile application. They are experiences that integrate the best part of the web with the best parts of apps. Basically, they use modern web capabilities to deliver app-like user experiences to users.

The events are going to be spread out throughout this month with first one starting in Kenya. Anyway, here’s the full schedule.

Andreas Bovens (Opera for Android Product Manager),  Femi Taiwo (Chief Technology Officer, INTIS Ltd.), Ire Aderinokun (Head of Design and Product, Big Cabal Media), István Szmozsánszky (Developer Relations, Mozilla), Eugene Mutai, (Andela Fellow), and Juarez Filho (Google Developer Expert) are all going to be part of the roadshow.

They’ll be talking about stuff like high performance interactions, instant and offline apps with Service Worker, and the future of the web platform.

Registration to the events is free, but attendance is by invitation only. If you’re interested in attending any of the events, register here. You should get a notification including your invitation (if you make the cut) in a few days.
