GEARBOX LAUNCHES FAB LAB PLATFORM

Kenya’s very own Gearbox has partnered with Fab Academy to launch a  Fab Lab platform  with activities such as technological empowerment, peer-to-peer project-based technical training, local problem-solving and small-scale high-tech business incubation.

At the Fab Academy, one learns how to envision, prototype and document your ideas through many hours of hands-on experience with digital fabrication tools. They process different code formats and turn them into tangible objects.

The Fab Academy program at Gearbox will run for at least a duration of  six months, with students learning how to prototype and document their projects and ideas through extensive hours of hands-on experience with digital fabrication.

Certificates are awarded on relevant technical topics and an ultimate fab Diploma when all topics are completed. Students also gain deep knowledge about the machines , materials used, the design phase and engineering which goes hand in hand with invention and innovation from learning and mentoring each other.

Gearbox is giving students an opportunity to be effectively equipped and efficient by providing makerspace, supplementary knowledge and technical assistance while building their very own fab academy portfolio of mastery of skills.
