After its operation in Kenya ( July 2015 ) and Nigeria ( June 2014 ), Andela has announced its expansion to Uganda Kampala.
On choosing Uganda as Andela’s third African market, Jeremy Johnson, co-founder, and CEO of Andela said;
The response we have received from the technology community in Uganda over the past year has been overwhelming and has made it clear why Uganda is a natural step on our path to unlocking the potential of thousands of world-class developers across the continent.
Uganda is also home to a vibrant tech scene, with several tech hubs and incubators (Hive Colab, Women in Technology, and Outbox among them) and tech events happening weekly. Over 50% of Uganda’s GDP is from the informal sector, which employs 80% of the workforce and already We have seen the impact of tech in the informal sector and Andela wants to accelerate that growth by developing the next generation of technology leaders.
As the need for world-class talent increases in tech ecosystems around the world, Andela has expanded operations to continue connecting the most talented developers across Africa with the companies that need them. Two years ago we opened our Nairobi, Kenya offices, and just a few weeks ago, we opened our new state-of-the-art offices in Lagos, Nigeria.
