AfriLabs & ICT 4 Social Innovation Network (ICT4SI) to host West African Workshop
The workshop will be held on Thursday the 27th of July 2017 in Abuja, Nigeria. This event follows the recent partnership between AfriLabs, the largest network of African technology hubs, and the pan-African ICT 4 Social Innovation Network, founded by SPIDER & iHub Kenya. The workshop is organised by Management Sciences for Health (MSH/IdeaLab) and AfriLabs in collaboration with SPIDER and iHub Kenya.
The theme of the workshop is; “Leave no one behind – a multi-sector action for African ICT solutions to bridge gaps through social innovation” and it aims to provide a platform for cross sector collaboration to discuss key issues in health, education and rights to identify key partnership opportunities within the West African sub region.
The Workshop which is highly interactive and is organised around a series of presentations by experts on the above mentioned theme will be followed by focused discussions around:
- the challenges and opportunities in ICT4Development (ICT4D),
- practical applications/successes and
- next steps on network sustainability.
Participants for this workshop include Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), private sector agents, researchers, government officials and technology experts.
“This event is a milestone in bringing African tech experts to make reality of problem solving so that we can collectively be a region known for secure, innovative and inclusive ICT infrastructure which enables Nigeria and our neighbours to have better education, health and transparency. Leading up to the ICT 4 Social Innovation Conference in Abuja, this coming October, there is an urgency to highlight Western African Social Innovation through ICT.” – Benjamin Akinmoyeje, Management Sciences for Health (MSH).
